Veedon
Fleece, an established custom weaving house creating bespoke designs, both
classical and contemporary. Hand knotted
carpet collections are produced each year along with their bespoke and couture
service.
Founded to
produce the best hand made carpets and rugs on a couture basis regardless of
cost and without the use of child labour, Veedon Fleece looms were formed in the
Kathmandu Valley in 1992. They are recognised as the leading quality
manufacturers from the Kingdom
of Nepal and weave in many
different qualities – MUGA, PASHMINA, SILK, THE UNIQUE AND HIGHLY PRIZED
VEEDON, AND BEST TIBETAN WOOL.
As a custom
weaving house each carpet is woven on a couture basis to commission only. Almost
any size or shape are created up to a size of 24m by 8m (80ft by 26ft). With up to
160 hand tied knots per square inch and to design specification, this level of
quality does not provide an ‘off the shelf’ ready tomorrow product. Lead times are regarded as some of
the most efficient within the industry.
Each
commission is carefully discussed before point papers are drawn up by
hand. After trial sampling is accepted,
weaving can commence. Realistic lead times and delivery dates are advised at
point of order.
A small
company focused on excellence, Veedon Fleece limits the amount of annual
production to a level where only the best that is expected, can be
maintained. Quality and choice are all
important, hence the development of the VEEDON quality, a mixture of hand
carded silk and wool (50/50) Then hand
spun, this enables not only great strength of fibre but also a lustre of finish
as good as that found on the best antique carpets, patinated by the process of
1-200 years. It is an incredible yarn,
the finished product giving the luxurious richness of colour, but in a
wonderfully subtle manner.
Veedon
Fleece’s SILK, exclusively sourced over a period of five years is, quite
simply, strong and sensual. Veedon
Fleece’s pashmina, which not only feels subtly different, absorbs colour in a
totally unique way. It is calm, soft, elegant
and demure, and when woven at our high specification is of lasting heirloom
quality.
